GLOBAL MARKETS Asian stocks resumed their ascent on Friday, supported by U.S. earnings optimism and a rise in oil prices while the euro edged higher as the European Central Bank signalled an end to its massive stimulus.

WORLD OIL PRICES Oil prices eased on Friday after hitting their highest levels since December, 2014 the previous day.

NIGERIA MARKETS Nigeria's main stock index rose to above 43,000 points on Thursday, a level last seen in October 2008, after local and foreign funds bought shares across several sectors.

AFRICA ENERGY China's Sinopec Corp inched closer on Thursday to victory over Glencore in their battle for Chevron's CVX.N South Africa and Botswana assets, saying the South African government favoured its bid.

KENYA COMPANIES Kenya Airways KQNA.NR expects its daily direct flights to the United States that it launches for the first time in October to boost annual revenue by 10 percent from 2019, the chief executive said on Thursday.
