Canada Unemployment Rate Dips to 6.7% in December - WSJ

OTTAWA--A second straight month of strong hiring in Canada last month left the unemployment rate slightly lower to finish the year.
Statistics Canada reported Friday that Canada's economy added a net 90,900 jobs in December. Market expectations were for employment to increase by about 25,000, after 50,500 jobs were added the month before, according to economists at TD Securities.
The unemployment rate ticked down to 6.7% from 6.8% in November, against expectations the jobless rate would rise to 6.9%.
When calculated using U.S. Labor Department methodology, Canada's unemployment rate in December was 0.1 percentage point lower at 5.8%.
