Canadian dollar weakens, benchmark yield slips - REUTERS
The Canadian dollar weakened against the greenback on Friday, and the yield on benchmark government debt slipped.
The loonie was trading 0.2% lower at C$1.3872 to the greenback, or 72.09 U.S. cents, after trading in a range of 1.3847 to 1.3892.
Canadian government 10-year bond yields fell 4.2 basis points to 3.152%. The yield on similar U.S. government benchmark debt fell to 4.272%.
U.S. June crude futures fell 82 cents to $61.97 a barrel on Friday.
Canadian retail sales rose 0.4% in March from February. Analysts polled by Reuters had expected retail sales to drop 0.4%.Excluding autos, retail sales rose 0.5% in March, Statistics Canada said. Analysts had forecast March sales, excluding autos, to be down 0.4%.
