India Inflation Nears 4% Target, Raising Hopes of Rate Cut - BLOOMBERG
India’s inflation eased to a five-month low in January, inching closer to the central bank’s target and bolstering hopes that the monetary authority will continue to lower interest rates in the coming months.
The consumer price index rose 4.31% last month from a year earlier, data from the statistics ministry showed Wednesday, lower than a 4.50% increase predicted by economists in a Bloomberg survey. Inflation climbed 5.22% in December.
