South African rand weakens ahead of unemployment data - REUTERS
JOHANNESBURG, Feb 18 (Reuters) - South Africa's rand weakened early on Tuesday against a buoyant dollar, ahead of unemployment data due later in the day and a national budget speech on Wednesday.
At 0739 GMT, the rand traded at 18.47 against the U.S. dollar , about 0.5% weaker than its previous close.
The dollar last traded about 0.2% firmer against a basket of currencies.
Domestic investors will look to unemployment data (ZAUNR=ECI) tab for the final quarter of 2024 at 0930 GMT to gauge the labour market of Africa's most industrialised economy.
