Customs Raises Alarm Over Import Of Expired Drinks - DAILY TRUST

The authority in charge of the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone A, on Thursday, raised the alarm over the importation of expired drinks and medicament into the country by some dubious businessmen.

It said the instructions on the cans and cartons of the seized expired drinks were written in the Chinese language.

Addressing newsmen on Thursday on the seizures, the acting Controller of the Federal Operations Unit, Zone A, Comptroller, Hussein Ejibunu, said the Yuletide season is a period of the year with the tradition of springing high-level smuggling activities all over the country with particular reference to South West Zone.

Ejibunu said officers of the unit, being very much aware of the foregoing known facts, proactively marshaled out strategies to put the activities of smugglers in Check.

He said the application of the strategies, which for security reasons are not to be made public, provoked the avalanche of seizures.
