Senegal and IMF to hold call with external creditors on debt plan - REUTERS
LONDON, Sept 30 (Reuters) – Senegal will hold a conference call for international creditors next week alongside officials from the International Monetary Fund to lay out its plans to tackle its debt crisis, it said on Wednesday.
The call, which is scheduled for Oct. 6, “will allow the authorities to share with external creditors an update on Senegal’s economic and financial situation, its economic reform program, and its debt treatment strategy, including creditor engagement plan, timeline, and next steps,” the country’s Ministry of Economy, Finance and Planning said in a statement.
Senegal recently announced a debt treatment plan to return its finances to a sustainable footing, two years after the government unveiled billions of dollars of previously misreported debt that analysts now peg at roughly $13 billion.
