Euro Zone Consumers Cut Inflation Expectations in June - REUTERS
FRANKFURT, July 24 (Reuters) — Euro zone consumers lowered their inflation expectations in June, according to the European Central Bank's Consumer Expectations Survey.
The survey showed that the median expectation for inflation over the next 12 months declined to 3.0% in June from 3.5% in May. The improvement likely reflected lower energy prices following a temporary truce in the Middle East.
Consumers' expectations for inflation three years ahead also eased to 2.8% from 2.9%.
Inflation expectations five years ahead remained unchanged at 2.4%, suggesting that longer-term inflation expectations continue to be relatively well anchored.
