The Deputy Chief Operating Officer at Lekki Port, Daniel Odibe, emphasised the port’s role as a beacon of modern maritime infrastructure, making strides toward a highly efficient and interconnected maritime ecosystem.
He made this statement yesterday at the 17th Nigeria International Maritime Ports and Terminals Conference and Expo (NIMPORT 2024), which runs from October 29 to 31.
Speaking on the theme, “Charting the Course for the Optimisation of Nigeria’s Blue Economy 2,” Odibe noted that the Port Single Window and Community System would facilitate seamless cargo movement and improve efficiency, making Lekki Port a pivotal player in the maritime industry.
He said this development is part of a broader strategy to integrate Nigeria’s maritime infrastructure with global trade networks, fostering economic growth and enhancing connectivity within the region.
Odibe also noted that Lekki Port plays a crucial role in Nigeria’s economic growth by fostering integration between the Lagos Free Zone and the nation’s expanding blue economy.
Odibe, who is one of the speakers at the conference, discussed how Lekki Port’s strategic location within the Lagos Free Zone and proximity to other economic hubs facilitates efficient operations through advanced automation and streamlined customs processes, positioning it as a premier gateway for trade in West Africa.
“This positions Lekki Port as a vital component of Nigeria’s maritime infrastructure, directly supporting the objectives outlined at NIMPORT 2024,” Odibe stated.
Highlighting Lekki Port’s role within Nigeria’s Free Zones, Odibe added that the proximity to multiple Free Trade Zones offers port users cost-effective logistics and expedited export processes.
He explained that this synergy enables businesses to reduce transportation costs and improve inventory management while facilitating access to Nigerian and international markets.
“With its cutting-edge infrastructure, including the Port Single Window and Port Community System currently under development, Lekki Port embodies the vision shared by NIMPORT 2024 of a highly efficient and connected maritime ecosystem,” he said.
Odibe also encouraged investors to explore the substantial opportunities Lekki Port offers, as it remains integral to advancing Nigeria’s economic growth.
